Lunar Gala
In an effort to further support the city’s on-going fashion scene, Pittsburgh Fashion Week (PGHFW) and its organizers (Downtown CDC) are proud to support the Carnegie Mellon University’s 2020 fashion event: *Lunar Gala (LG).
Lunar Gala’s theme for the 2020 production:
“Yesterday explores the liminal space between here and there, then and now, yesterday and today. Does our distorted memory of the past alter the events of the present? For [LG] twenty-fourth annual show, we reflect on our history and reimagine the future.”
In the past, Lunar Gala was created to celebrate Chinese New Year or the Lunar New Year. The Chinese New Year cycles through 12 animal zodiac signs. In 2020, the zodiac animal of the year is the rat.
This student-run show will showcase fashions by 16 different teams of designers and features performances from the university’s dance clubs.
Consider donating to Lunar Gala’s crowdfunding site to help financially support the project:
*Lunar Gala (LG) is a PGHFW supported show that took place on February 29, 2020. Pittsburgh Fashion Week 2020 (PGHFW20) occurred on September 21, 2020 - September 25, 2020. The collaboration contributes to PGHFW and its organizer’s mission of creating a year-long network of Pittsburgh fashion events.
